Most forwarders grow by hiring. Cargo Movers grew by giving its people more capacity.

Founded in 1998, Cargo Movers ships high-value, sensitive and time-critical goods worldwide by air, sea and road, from food and pharmaceuticals to spare parts for aircraft and ships.

Its challenge was never expertise. It was the repetitive work around it: across Sales, Operations and Accounting, people were reading emails, typing data into systems and chasing line items by hand.

The goal was not to cut costs. As CEO Marcel Macke puts it, it was to protect quality: skilled people who spend their day on customers and exceptions, not on typing. So the question was simple: how much more could the team handle with less repetitive work?

4 people's work, now done by 1.5

Around 200 quote requests reach Cargo Movers every working day, some 6,000 a month, all landing in one shared sales inbox. 4 people sat on that inbox. Each one answered around 40 requests a day, which is close to the limit of what a person can do when every quote is built by hand.

nemox was rolled out in Sales first. The platform reads each request, prices it and drafts the quote, and the sales rep checks and sends it. More than half of all quotes go out exactly as drafted. When a rep does step in, it is usually a quick fix of 1 or 2 values, most often a trucking price or the shipment volume.

The same sales rep who sent 32 quotes a working day before nemox now sends 57. That is 79% more output from the same working day, counted on both sides: in the old quoting system in autumn 2025 and in nemox in August 2026.

Today, 1.5 people handle quoting. Cargo Movers didn't backfill 2 roles, and 1 former quoter moved into Operations. Nobody was let go. By Marcel Macke's own estimate, the salaries saved in Sales alone cover the cost of nemox almost 4 times over.

Capacity you can spend 2 ways

79% more quotes per person can become the same business with fewer people, or more business with the same team. Cargo Movers chose the first. A team that keeps its headcount instead would, at Cargo Movers' historical win rate and shipment value, win around 800 additional shipments per sales rep a year.

Invoice checking, without the typing

The same pattern showed up in Accounting. Invoice checking was a fully manual process. Large supplier invoices can run to more than a hundred line items, and employees had to find each position, mark it, assign it to the right colleague and keep track of everything, often with a spreadsheet open in parallel. Including checking and booking, a large invoice could take 2–3 hours.

Today, incoming invoices are pulled automatically from email into nemox. The platform reads the line items, amounts and container numbers and assigns each position to the responsible employee. Reviewers get a notification and confirm their positions. Once every position is confirmed, the invoice is ready to book.

Around 60 invoices a working day now go through nemox across Bremen, Frankfurt and Rotterdam. Since March, the platform has read more than 28,000 line items and assigned more than 20,000 of them to the responsible colleague automatically. Because every line is matched against the accrual for its shipment, the platform also uncovered overcharges worth 1.5% of gross profit: 476 line items in 3 months billed above the expected cost. 57% of invoices are booked without anyone changing a single field. Large invoices that used to take 2–3 hours now take the accountant about 6 minutes.

The biggest bottleneck that remains isn't reading invoices. It sits before the invoice arrives: either Operations hadn't entered the accrual for the shipment, so there is nothing to check the invoice against, or the supplier billed the wrong charges. In August, 27% of invoices came in for shipments with no accrual in the system.
